Charcoal has been used for centuries for drawing. It is particularly appreciated for its fine, even grain.

It produces a dry, dense, intense black. Its advantage is that it is perfectly miscible with Sanguine and Sépia pencils.

They are easy to blend and add a warm, light tone to the work.

With charcoal, you need to grasp the masses. To do this, you lay down flat areas of grey of varying shades and place the general shapes of the model, i.e. sculpt the shapes.
