Description
The Arches Watercolour Cold Press Natural White paper in the extra-large size of 101.6 cm x 152.4 cm (40″ x 60″) is a 640 GSM (300 lb) sheet made from 100% cotton, available for purchase from various art suppliers. It is highly regarded for its exceptional quality and durability.
Key Features
- Material and Quality: This paper is made from 100% cotton fibers, which provide strength, longevity, and a natural, lasting whiteness without the use of optical brightening agents.
- Weight: At 640 GSM (300 lb), it is a heavyweight paper that can handle multiple washes of color and large amounts of water with minimal buckling, even without stretching.
- Texture: The “cold press” (fine grain) texture offers a harmonious, slightly textured surface that is suitable for a wide range of wet techniques and allows artists great control, making it a popular choice for most watercolorists.
- Manufacturing: Produced on a cylinder mould, the fibers are distributed evenly, mimicking traditional handmade paper quality and ensuring the paper slackens uniformly when wet.
- Sizing: It features an exclusive gelatin sizing “to the core” process, which preserves the luster and transparency of colors, prevents paint from penetrating too deeply, and allows for easy blending, overlaying, or paint removal.
- Longevity: The paper is acid-free, pH-neutral, and has a fungicidal treatment to prevent mold, guaranteeing its longevity and permanence in accordance with ISO 9706 standards.
- Edges: Sheets in this size typically come with four deckle edges (two natural and two torn).
